Press Play
Press Play started at a time in my life when politics had gone mad, I was anticipating a horrific surgery related to my SCAD, and I was subject to even more horrific personal harassment. I was in my studio and looked at a remote and thought if I could only press stop on all the craziness in my life. That thought morphed into what if I could then press play to instantly have joy in my life. Those thoughts bloomed a series of quilts on social symbolism. The first one in the series is Press Play.
The remote is a symbol that everyone instantly recognizes. What if we could use a remote to change the course of our lives? Say no to craziness by pressing Stop. Savor those moments of perfection by pressing Pause. Ignite joy in our life by Pressing Play. While I looked at the quilt day after day, I found I spent less time thinking about Stop and more time Playing. I hope the quilt can remind you to Press Play in your daily life and ignore the chaos.
