Two quilts selected for AQS Paducah International Quilt Show
Modern Minimalist Snowflake and When you hear hoofbeats were both on display at Paducah AQS juried International Quilt show last week. The judge left me a sweet note commenting on my beautiful quilting on MMS. For irony, I entered it in the modern category and broke a “traditional” quilt rule — I did not quilt the red diamonds at all. In traditional quilting, the entire surface is generally evenly quilted. I broke this rule to create extra puffiness so the red protruded — a deliberate design choice. However, the judge did not like that and left a comment it should have been quilted. If I did it all over again, I would still break the rules and not quilt it to give it the modern look I desired. I encourage you to BREAK A RULE today. Go have some fun and throw the rules to the wind!
